About the event

For decades, we've known how to capture CO₂ from smokestacks and inject it underground—but why hasn’t carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) lived up to expectations? With proposed coal mining and carbon capture projects in the West Susitna Drainage, it's more important than ever to understand the realities of this technology.

Join us for an evening with Erin McKittrick, a data analyst, writer, and wilderness adventurer from Seldovia, Alaska, who has spent years working on environmental issues, including mining and energy. Erin will break down how CCS works, why it remains largely unsuccessful in our most polluting industries, and the risks of relying on it to solve our climate problems. Come learn what CCS is and about proposed projects in our own backyard. We hope to see you there!
