Rainy Pass Lodge: Alaska's Oldest Lodge

Rainy Pass Lodge, located in the Eastern Alaska Range, is the oldest hunting and recreation lodge in Alaska.

Join the Susitna River Coalition as we welcome Steve H. Perrins II, the Operations Manager of Rainy Pass Lodge, in this online event. Steve will speak about the fascinating history of the lodge: from how the lodge came to be, to the site's role in dogsledding mail to villages in Western Alaska and to its importance to the aviation community. Steve will also touch on the future of the place under threat from an Industrial Corridor, The West Susitna Access Road.

Steve H. Perrins II is the Operations Manager of Rainy Pass Lodge, and along with his wife Carly, are in transitional plans to take over the lodge from his parents and continue the legacy of this historical site. Steve and Carly also run a summer camp for at-risk and underprivileged youth, bringing them out to the lodge each summer for ten days of wilderness experience and personal growth. Steve has also started and ran other businesses, a non-profit, served on boards, appeared on a non-scripted television show, R5Sons, Alaska, produced a Youtube show about the lodge, and worked in the Legislature for one of our Senators. Steve is active in his local church and feels it is very important to do what he can to give back and help make the world a better place for others. What he is most proud of, however, along with his wife, is his two young children Dawson (7) and Savannah (5).
