The Matanuska-Susitna Borough is considering a series of proposed updates to its waterbody setback regulations, which govern building distances from water bodies. These changes, developed over several months by the Waterbody Setback Advisory Board (WSAB), aim to clarify existing rules, address environmental concerns, and improve compliance. This document outlines the key changes to help residents understand and engage in the process.
The public may review and provide feedback to the Advisory Committee regarding the proposed updates by January 21, 2025.
After the January 21, 2025 Comment Period, the Waterbody Setback Advisory Board. will consider public comments for final recommendations. Final Recommendations will be provided to the MSB Assembly in March, at which point the Assembly can choose whether to take action. Any action would trigger additional public comment periods.
