Scoping Comment Period

A scoping comment period in preparation for an Environmental Assessment for the DOT portion of the West Susitna Industrial Corridor is open NOW through August 23rd, 2024. This comment period represents a crucial window to voice concerns regarding the Department of Transportation's poorly planned, fiscally irresponsible portion of the West Susitna Industrial Corridor.
This project, deceptively segmented into smaller parts so as to obscure cumulative impacts, threatens to inexorably alter this roadless expanse of the Susitna drainage forever.

Use Your Voice to Take Action

There is a long list of issues with the DOT proposed portion of the West Susitna Industrial Corridor and their flawed public process. We encourage you to comment on the project and attend the planned DOT scoping meetings to tell DOT what you think about their poorly planned project.

Susitna Valley Oil And Gas Development Leases
Comment by 5PM October 7th, 2024

The public comment period for the gas exploration license proposal in the Susitna Valley watershed has been extended until October 7th, 2024 at 5pm.
We thank DNR for responding to SRC’s comment period extension request. The last time this same area was solicited, there was significant community engagement due to economic and environmental concerns.
The license area, spanning approximately 1.5 million acres, lies just below Talkeetna and expands west beyond Skwentna to Willow. This is a pristine habitat area that feeds salmon into Cook Inlet, and has never previously had any active oil or gas exploration.
Comments can be submitted by mail or email.
See the Public Notice Here.
Clearly mark submittal(s) as “Comment on Exploration in the Susitna Valley Solicitation Area”.
