Wetlands account for almost 25% of the land area in the MatSu Borough.
Save the Date & Take Action January 19, 2021 @ 6PM Tell the MatSu Borough Assembly to support the Veto. Work on the Wetlands Mitigation Ordinance must continue.
Your public comments and testimony have been invaluable. Thank you for making your voice heard in support of the Mat-Su Borough wetlands. We also owe a huge thank you to Assembly people Tim Hale, Stephanie Nowers, and Tam Boeve for supporting public engagement and our valuable wetlands.
To Recap:
At the 12/15/20 Assembly meeting, more than 30 written comments and 14 in person testimonies were heard in opposition of Resolution RS 20-123 and the Stop Work Order. In response to the outpouring of your voices in opposition and with strong support for our wetlands, Mayor Vern Halter issued a Veto of the Resolution on January 3, 2021, overriding the resolution and unless overturned will allow for continued work on the ordinance.
We are glad to have his support and...The Assembly needs to hear from you again, approving the resolution 4:3 despite zero support from the public means this could be another tight vote.
Public comments and testimony are still needed for the upcoming January 19, 2021 assembly meeting at 6 PM.
Protect the public process and our wetlands. Your voice can continue to count. Please take advantage of this opportunity to make your voice heard.
